George Clooney has recently been in Italy to promote his latest movie “Leatherheads” with Rene Zellweger. George loves Italy and he owns an exclusive Villa near lake Como. Italian women go crazy for George and his “No M., No party” (famous spot for an alcoholic drink) has become the leit motiv of many generations.
The affable ‘Leatherheads’ star has recently become the target of a fake fashion label operating under the label “GC Exclusive by George Clooney.”
George Clooney might have dreamed to become the new fashion Guru but unfortunately it is only a big fraud. Two people are being investigated for the alleged fraud after attempting to launch a fashion line with a brand using George Clooney’s name, said police in Milan, Thursday the 17th of April. After the Oscar winner’s accusation in the last month, tax police said they seized garments and watches Wednesday the 16th of April, as well as fake documentation.
The ANSA news agency said the line was to be launched in Milan the following week.
Rumors of George’s interest for the fashion world started to circulate last month when a statement of his was wrongly translated from Italian to English which was immediately published on the web.
The release, which also included a fake quote or two from the actor, claimed that GC Exclusive by George Clooney would include a range of clothes for men and women and would debut with a Milan fashion show on April 20, with Clooney himself present.
The 46-year-old wasted no time in distancing himself from the reports and vowing to take legal action to shake off any perceived connection to the fashion pursuit.
The fashionable leading man filed a complaint last month after “GC Exclusive” issued a press release saying they were releasing a collection of clothes for men and women using his name on April 20 in Milan. “If someone tries to sell you clothes or watches that are based on me, don’t buy them,” Clooney, 46, told reporters in Rome on Wednesday.
Italy is the land of the fraudster and everyday there are new stories of fake wines, olive oils and tourist attractions. Recently, a famous Italian actor called Paolo Calabresi has become famous for pranking the football President of Real Madrid, Ramon Calderon. Calabresi decided to fly to Spain wearing Nicolas Cage’s mask for the Real Madrid v Rome football match. Real Madrid’s president was so sure of the identity of the Italian actor that he invited him to his presidential box to watch the match drinking only the best champagne. Paolo Calabresi also received gifts consisting of a personalised Real Madrid football jersey with the name “Cage” emblazoned on the back and an honorary pass to watch every Blancos match for the rest of his life.
Please George Clooney, don’t blame the Italians, we only wanted make you the new Fashion Guru.
