M2 Festival: electronic waves from the desert

In the end of October, in the desert like area off the road between Zaragozza-Madrid/ Fraga-Barcelona has seen the autumn session of the Monegro Festival.

16 hours of electronic, technocrat and trance music, 27 artists,

The names of the main sponsor (San Miguel, Bacardi and Lucky Strike) and over more than 20 000 people in the audience.

The line up loaded with top international DJ circle such as Ahpex Twin, Chris Liebing Speedy J, Front 242, Francois K, Ladytron and Misstress Barbara.

There was a division for genres in the biggest space “the San Miguel experience” devoted to fans of hard core techno and embellished with live performances, full of power, as the concert of one hour of the Ladytron’s electronic pop.

The real dancers were hosted in the Bacardi tent where DJs such as Angel Molina, James Ruskin & Karl O’Connor aka REGIS, Slam, Oscar Mulero, Tecnhasia and Cari Lekebusch had created a techno-trance marathon crossing all the possible borders of the genre.

Furthermore there was the “Lucky Strike area” where the lovers of the minimal electronic sound had the unique opportunity to see a live performance of DJ Guru Aphex Twin. The electronic master from Wales presented, for the first time in Spain, the series ‘Analord’ and the one hour and half of his performance was a real trip into a jungle of sounds where the listener could easily loose himself. When Aphex had left the console the sense of loss was enormous among the audience.

The unbelievable thing is that M2 Festival is only an autumn clone of the massive version of the Monegro Festival during the summer. Last year names as Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and DJ Rush played in a 20 hours non-stop gig across 8 tents.
