One of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the world, the 67th Venice Film Festival opens his doors this year on September 1st and will last till September 11th, 2010 when the complete group of winners are unveiled. Venice will become the center of the cinema and a big open-air redcarpet full of actors and actress from all over the world.
Will open the movie “Black Swan”, a thriller starring American actress Natalie Portman.
The full official lineup of 2010 nominees was shown on July 29th, when almost two dozen films in the festival’s official competition are annunced.
Getting into its 7th decade, the Venice Film Festival has changed a lot over the recent past: from a strictly European lineup to feature a varied and international venue. This change makes the Venice Film Festval one of the earliest predictors of winners for other film top awards worldwide, such as the most famous Hollywood contenders at the Oscars.
The others principal awards in Venice are the Leone d’Oro (Golden Lion), which is awarded for best film, and the Coppa Volpi (Volpi Cup) for best actor and actress.
