On Saturday 18th of September 2010, the same day the pope was in London, The Prince of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne was at the O2 Arena tearing down the walls with his Ozzfest 2010.
After the doors opened at 2.30, welsh rock band Skindred and american glam-rock Steel Panther warmed up the audience before Murderdolls took the stage. Wednesday 13 and Co. did a good job and set the mood for the much awaited performance of Korn.
The piooners of nu-metal started the setlist with Right Now, from the album Take a Look in the Mirror, and continued to entertain the thousands who attended the arena with more songs from their latest Korn III – Pop a pill, Oildale and Let the guilt go – and with some pearls from the past, Blind, Fallling Away from Me and Freak on a Leash. Even though they preferred to maintain a commercial setlist with not very many songs from the early albums, thanks to the power of Jonathan Davis’s voice and the blend of guitars and ferocious bass lines, Korn managed to pull off a great show.
The audience was now locked and loaded for The Prince of Darkness himself, who just recovered from a backache that made him cancel a concert in Germany. Unlike Korn, Ozzy Osbourne opened with a classic, Bark at the Moon, from the 1983 homonymous album, and played many songs from Black Sabbath years, like Fairies Wear Boots, War Pigs and Iron Man, as well as classic themes from his solo repertoire, such as Mr.Crowley, Shot in the Dark or Crazy Train. Only one song, Let Me Hear you Scream, was from the last studio work Scream. Supported by great musicians, above all bashing drummer Tommy Clufetos, and by the energy of the audience, Ozzy appeared to be still a showman who enjoys being on stage, and once again he gave everybody a night to remember.
