It was July 1985 when Back to the Future was released in the USA, and since then Marty McFly, Emmett “Doc” Brown, George McFly, Lorrain Baines and Biff Tannen have entertained millions of people, generation after generation, and have become immortal movie icons.
The 1st of October 2010 Universal Pictures have decided to give Back to the Future a UK-only theatrical re-release for its 25th Anniversary, and for a limited period of time everyone can enjoy a restored and digitally remastered time travel in 1955. I was 6 years old when BTTF first came out, and like many kids of my generation I have never seen it on the big screen, but this is a chance no one can miss.
Even after a million viewings and 25 years on its back, this Robert Zemeckis pearl has not aged a bit. Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly is the epitome of the 80s and of the american dream – “if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything” – while Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown is the unpredictable sci-fi element that made BTTF a classic of its genre thanks to the legendary DeLorean time-machine and the Flux Capacitor. Produced by Steven Spielberg and with Crispin Glover as clumsy George McFly, Lea Thompson as hottie Lorraine Baines and Thomas Wilson as villain Biff Tannen, Back to the Future is surely one of the best and successful movies of all times.
And if someone has never heard of it or has never seen it…well, Darth Vader will come down from planet Vulcan and he will melt your brain!
