It’s that time of year again when the world’s best directors and most acclaimed actors descend on the capital once again as it’s the 60th BFI London Film Festival on from 5th to 16th of October 2016.
With a stellar line up this year looks to be an amazing festival with 245 international films on screening.
As an antidote to the lack of black actors in this year’s Oscars there is a wealth of films with black actors in this years festival. Some highlights The opening film is A United Kingdom featuring David Oyelowo. Based on a true story Queen of Katwe following the story chess champion also featuring David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o. Birth of a Nation a Sundance-winning drama loosely based on the story of Nat Turner who led a slave rebellion, it is a departure from the 1915 DW Griffith’s epic with the same name, which was controversial in its racist depiction of black men.
