Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Wilson (Katee Sackhoff) had everything she ever wanted as a mission control scientist until the first manned mission to Mars ends in a deadly crash. Among the dead was her father, Jake Wilson. Years later Mack assists an artificial intelligence system, A.R.T.I. Their investigation uncovers a mysterious object under the surface of Mars, that could change the future of our planet as we know it.
Trouble starts when they find a cube-like building next door to the crash area and behind the astronaut’s woes. Even more trouble starts when the A.I. begins doing a HAL impression. When a scientist receives an “Origin Unknown” signal from Mars, she must investigate from mission control 150 million miles away on Earth.
Director Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull said: “Working with Katee on 2036 Origin Unknown was a dream come true, not only was I a fan of her work, but she turned out to be one of the best collaborators on the project, she really sunk her soul and passion into the character of Mack and we spent months of prep before the shoot and her input throughout really helped shape the character you see on the screen.”
