DRM attended on Sunday 18th January the 35th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards took place at the luxurious May Fair Hotel. As the UK’s longest standing and most prestigious critical organisation, The London Critics’ Circle boasts 140 members who see every one of the hundreds of films released in the UK each year.
“Boyhood” got the best film award, Richard Linklater got the director prize and the supporting actress award going to Patricia Arquette.
Wes Anderson took the screenwriter prize for “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” Michael Keaton was crowned top actor for “Birdman,” Julianne Moore was named best actress for “Still Alice” and the supporting actor prize went to J.K. Simmons for “Whiplash.”
Jonathan Glazer’s “Under the Skin,” which stars Scarlett Johansson, was named British film of the year.
The acclaimed actress Miranda Richardson was honoured with the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film at the critics’ awards ceremony.
Distinguished actor Timothy Spall was there with his wife Shane Spall, he picked up the london critics circle film awards 2015 for British Actor of the Year. The Harry Potter star surprised fans with his new thin frame.
The Circle’s Film Awards Chair, Rich Cline comments: “Our members see virtually every film released over the course of the year, so they put a lot of thought into their votes. As a result, our ceremony will be a terrific celebration of the year in cinema. We hope to have a few surprise winners, and of course a lot of fun as we return to The May Fair Hotel for a great party.”
