The Strokes headlined last nights opening of the 10 days long music festival Barclays Bristish Summer Time Festival.

The strokes at BST Hyde Park was accompanied by Beck, featuring: Future Islands ,Temples, Public Service Broadcasting, Syd Arthur, The Wytches, Hinds, Gengahr, Yak, Public Access T.V. , Kieran Leonard & The Horses and The Academic!

Next up at BST Hyde Park are some amazing headliners include Blur, Australian pop queen Kylie, The Who with Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs and Johnny Marr. Pops princess Taylor Swift supported by quirky Ellie Goulding, John Newman and Vance Joy, before a family day with Union J an event where you can bring the whole family .

The Strokes seem to have found a whole new generation of fans since they took the UK rock stage with storm back in 2001 with their album Is this It, when they were hailed as reviving  garage rock, their allure being a mixture of their bad boy behaviour played out against their privileged NY background. Lead singer Julian Casablanca‘s father; John Casablancas, was the founder of the famous Elite Model Management (Rolling Stone) and his mother Jeanette Christiansen a model and former Miss Denmark. With this pedigree maybe its not so strange that they have been the darlings of the hipster crowd and have influenced shores of British bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Adele and The Killers.

The British Summer Time Festival has a proper Summer festival feel, with a boutique twist, with street food market, campaign and jam jar cocktails, in the words of Time Out

“For the third year running Hyde Park plays host to some of the planet’s biggest musical stars, with an upmarket festival vibe that takes in small stages, theatre and comedy, food and drink and a posh VIP area.”
